Quogue

Quogue is a subdued incorporated village located within the town of Southampton in Suffolk County, New York. This classic, (newly declared) historic Village was founded in 1659 and blossomed as a summer resort community during the late 19th century. Quogue has an alluring vintage appeal with large estate-like homes and scenery on its southern end reminiscent of familiar  Norman Rockwell paintings. Spacious contemporaries are found in the more wooded section of northern Quogue, many offering spacious parcels with tennis courts. Quogue is surrounded by a  network of coastal waterways that shape its landscape, ecology, and character to include glorious miles of the Atlantic Ocean coastline along Dune Road.

Quogue has an inviting small-town feel without a dedicated commercial center. Businesses within the community include Schmidt’s Country Market, relocated from Southampton. A full market offering an impressive deli counter, coffee/tea station, fresh veggies, baked goods, home goods, catering and more. Always in season, it will surely become your favorite go to market. In the neighboring community of East Quogue, you’ll find Stone Creek Inn, an upscale dining destination serving French-inspired cuisine in a beautiful Victorian inn. Be sure to check availability as it closes in deep winter months. Entertainment is quite local through the beloved Hampton Theatre  located right in the heart of the Village with live shows not to be missed. Looking for a full gym, tennis and cycling? Head to SPORTIME Quogue home to a state-of-the-art fitness center with a range of personal and group classes and summer tennis programs.

Local attractions include the 300-acre natural expanse of Quogue Wildlife Refuge. This non-profit wildlife preserve cares for injured animals, including bald eagles, falcons, foxes, and owls. The refuge, a long-standing sanctuary for nature lovers, offers education programs for both children and adults. It is open to visitors throughout the year with wandering walking paths and peaceful vistas about Old Ice Pond.

The gorgeous beaches of Dune Road run along Quogue’s Atlantic coastline. Village of Quogue residents have access to the lifeguard-protected Village Beach. Many residents belong to beach-focused private members’ clubs, such as Quogue Beach Club and Surf Club of Quogue.

Quogue operates its own Quogue Union Free School District to  include Quogue Elementary School for grades PK-6. Students move on to attend the Westhampton Beach School District for Middle and High School. Quogue  real estate is a flashback to the Hamptons’ beginnings as an upscale summertime get away with a modern retro vibe.
