Westhampton is an unincorporated community on Long Island in Suffolk County, New York that surrounds the popular Hamptons summer getaway of Westhampton Beach. A peaceful hamlet with many trees and beautiful foliage, Westhampton is bit more year round as compared to the bustling Village Westhampton Beach. Real estate within the hamlet includes lavish waterfront estates and gorgeous single-family homes in a variety of styles.
Popular Westhampton restaurants include Buoy One Seafood Restaurant & Market, the go-to local spot for fresh raw, grilled, and fried seafood served in a stylish space with an outdoor patio and a lounge with a full bar. Fresh seafood is also available from Westhampton’s Farmers’ Market Farm Stand, along with locally-grown fruits and vegetables and homemade specialty foodstuffs. Residents enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle with nearby sports facilities, including the Westhampton Beach Tennis Club. This tennis club has 28 Har-Tru courts and a variety of programs for both children and adults. The surrounding waterways also make Westhampton an ideal place for taking part in activities such as paddle boarding, fishing and sailing.
Dune Road runs West to East from Westhampton Dunes on its West end at the Moriches Inlet through to Hamptons Bays at the Shinnecock Inlet and offers beautiful sandy beaches, such as Cupsogue County Beach and Pike’s Beach. Town and/or hamlet/village ownership is required to access the various beaches along its 14 miles. Annual events such as Westhampton Beach Festival of the Arts, Westhampton Beach Arts and Crafts Show, & Westhampton Beach Harvest Festival are local faves and well attended. A robust weekly farmers’ market is hosted at the Westhampton Beach Village Green every Saturday between May and November, where over 60+ vendors sell a diverse selection of fresh produce, seafood, and artisanal prepared foods. This has become the Village’s early morning social event to enjoy coffee, some small conversations and meet and greet.
Westhampton residents attend schools belonging to the Westhampton Beach Union Free School District. While no public schools are located in Westhampton itself, Westhampton Beach has public elementary, middle, and high schools.
