Hampton Bays is located at the easternmost end of the main body of Long Island in Suffolk County, New York. Long Island narrows here between Great Peconic Bay in the north and Shinnecock Bay in the South before continuing with the South Fork region to the West. Surrounded by pristine beaches, this popular community is busy throughout the year with both permanent residents and summertime vacationers. Great restaurants can be found dotted throughout Hampton Bays. Centro Trattoria & Bar is an intimate restaurant and wine bar serving inventive twists on authentic Italian classics. Overlooking Shinnecock Bay, Rumba has a captivating castaway vibe with Caribbean cuisine, rum cocktails, and reggae music. Hampton Bays beaches include a newly renovated Ponquogue Beach on the easternmost end of Dune Road to the south. This gorgeous sandy beach is one of the most popular beaches in the Hamptons, attracting over 100,000 visitors each year. This lifeguard-protected beach is great for kite flying, beach volleyball, fishing, and scuba diving. Meschutt Beach County Park covers over 7 acres with more than 1000 feet of waterfront on Peconic Bay to the North. Considered one of Long Island’s most beautiful bay beaches, Meschutt Beach is very popular with families. It is also great for sailing and snorkeling, and hermit crabs can often be found in its shallow waters. Lifeguards protect the beach during the summer season while saltwater fishing is permitted during the off-season.
